So, it would be correct to say that you aren't aware of any arguments for progressive sanctification?

I am unaware of any bible verses that verify a gradual sanctification.Spiritblade Disciple wrote: ↑Thu Oct 16, 2025 6:12 pm So, it would be correct to say that you aren't aware of any arguments for progressive sanctification?
The whole idea is just another accommodation for sin.
Ask any fan of that doctrine if they have ever met anyone who finally reached the 100% mark.

Have you considered Hebrews 12:6-11 as a continuous experience? And, that those that are experiencing it are really sons, even though they are still being chastened and scourged and corrected?

The Heb. verses say nothing about the rebukes/corrections being for sin.Spiritblade Disciple wrote: ↑Fri Oct 17, 2025 12:05 amSpiritblade Disciple wrote: ↑Thu Oct 16, 2025 6:12 pm So, it would be correct to say that you aren't aware of any arguments for progressive sanctification?Have you considered Hebrews 12:6-11 as a continuous experience? The sons of God, were reborn of His perfect seed.
They cannot commit sin.
If the sanctified don't check their tires, they will eventually be chastised with the cost of new tires.
If the sanctified don't pay the electric bill on time, they will lose their power.
If the sanctified don't brush their teeth, God will chastise them with hefty dental bills.
Heb 11:23 describes the sanctified..."To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,"

I think you're mistaken. The chastisement, scourging, and correction are something that only sons of God experience. But, what you describe (cost of tires, consequences of late payments, and inadequate bodily maintenance) is experienced by all, whether sons of God or not.Hill Top wrote: ↑Fri Oct 17, 2025 10:29 pm The Heb. verses say nothing about the rebukes/corrections being for sin.

I am supposing that you think the chastisements, etc., are for sin...right ?Spiritblade Disciple wrote: ↑Fri Oct 17, 2025 10:49 pmSpiritblade Disciple wrote: ↑Fri Oct 17, 2025 12:05 am Have you considered Hebrews 12:6-11 as a continuous experience? God's sons cannot commit sin, so the chastisements etc., must be for things others than for sin.
I will grant that God can and will chastise a brother for getting too close to "the edge", so to speak; or for getting lazy-lax in prayer and study.

If it is required to love God with all one's heart, mind, soul, and strength... Wouldn't "getting lazy-lax in prayer and study" violate that requirement and therefore be sin?Hill Top wrote: ↑Sat Oct 18, 2025 11:19 pm I am supposing that you think the chastisements, etc., are for sin...right ?

Incidentally, studying is one way of renewing the mind and transforming one's self. It could be thought of as a form of progressive sanctification. Thus, "getting lazy-lax in... study" could be seen as a sort of interruption in process of progressive sanctification from being conformed to the world to being transformed into what one ought to be.

I wouldn't call that a sin, but the results of it could result in sin.Spiritblade Disciple wrote: ↑Sat Oct 18, 2025 11:51 pmIf it is required to love God with all one's heart, mind, soul, and strength... I don't agree.Incidentally, studying is one way of renewing the mind and transforming one's self. It could be thought of as a form of progressive sanctification.
It is just growing in grace and knowledge.
One is either clean or unclean; not cleaner or more unclean.
The blood of Christ is what sanctifies us.Thus, "getting lazy-lax in... study" could be seen as a sort of interruption in process of progressive sanctification from being conformed to the world to being transformed into what one ought to be.
Does your scenario for growth apply more of Jesus' cleansing blood to us ?

Where does the Bible say that one is sanctified ONLY through Christ's blood?

I don't think that sort of verse exists.Spiritblade Disciple wrote: ↑Mon Oct 20, 2025 1:29 pmWhere does the Bible say that one is sanctified ONLY through Christ's blood?
Do you have another means of sanctification in mind ?
Heb 10:29..."Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?"
