Re: divine
It is the gift of the Holy Ghost, promised by Peter on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2:38, and the Comforter promised by Jesus in John 14-15- and 16.Spiritblade Disciple wrote: ↑Sun Jun 07, 2026 5:22 pmHow do you define "the Baptism of the Holy Spirit"?Hill Top wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2026 2:50 pm Spiritblade Disciple wrote:
"Dake would likely conclude that you are most likely conflating verses about baptism by the Spirit into Christ with the ceremony of water baptism. For Dake, the two baptisms were different baptisms. Not the same baptism."
I feel they are different baptisms; the water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of past sins done by men for men.
And the Baptism of the Holy Spirt being done by God for men.
It is our "immersion" by/into the Spirit of God.
I see them as the same thing. Some see a difference between the baptism "of" versus the baptism "with" the Spirit.

"Three Baptisms for Believers:

"3. Spirit baptism, the enduement of power for service. It can take place before water baptism (Acts 10:44–48) or after it (Acts 1:4–8; 2:1–11; 8:12–21; 19:1–7).
"The Holy Spirit is the agent to baptize into Christ and into His body (1Cor. 12:13); Christ is the agent to baptize in the Holy Spirit (Mt. 3:11; Jn. 1:31–33); and the minister is the agent to baptize into water (Mt. 28:19)."

I do not agree with all of it.
