Jesus is the vine, we are the branches, we cannot bear fruit unless we abide in Him.
John 15: 1, I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Charity, Gr. agape, spontaneous and divine love. It is more eternal than gifts. 1 Cor. 13:4.-8;
4, Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6, Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7, Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8, Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
These are real fruits of the spirit.

The Holy Spirit is not the fruit bearer as John 15 proves.....
We bear fruit as we abide in Jesus,, the key is ...Abide in Jesus and His words abide in you....
Jesus said "every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, God takes away" which proves its not the Holy Spirit
or the Holy Spirit that is in you.

Rather that looking at it as "fruit of the Spirit", I look at it as "fruit of having the Spirit".
