It is not a matter of you being right or of me being right it is a matter of what did scripture say. Did say what victorydub said it did? NO! So what is the problem?
Ed I am going to ask the same question that Leon asked
What does it say that Troy missed?

rocky I already answer that question

True, but you said this in reference to a disagreement that a pastor had on the statement of Chris' t-shirt which said, "God said it, I Believe it, and that Settles It". Chris was not saying that God's Word is untrue apart from believing it, however, faith is needed for it to become personal truth to each individual. 1 John 5:10 says, "....he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son."

Therefore, you're argument against the statement was saying that faith is not needed regardless of how you now want to spin this after I have shown you Scripture opposing your view.

That my friend is basic theology 101 and you should know it.
God does not declare Himself God in order to build His own ego. Every declaration that God makes is meant to be received by the hearers of His declaration as truth. What God said may be true but it has no meaning to the one who refuses to believe it. The one who does believe it will then declare, as SMITH WIGGLESWORTH, a Pentecostal pioneer did, "God said it, I believe it, that settles it." It always amazes me how those of you who are AG go against your own heritage of faith and disdain your own pioneers.

This is getting stupid I refuse to participate.

Did you listen to the video?
If not please do.
Did you read my objection to video?
If not please do.
Do you see where Victorydub said this verse says that having the word in you defeats the wicked one, when in fact the verse does not say that?
If not are you deaf?
Is that not adding to or subtracting from scripture?
If you don't think that is adding to scripture would you please supply your definition of what adding or subtracting from scripture is?
Is having the Word inside us the way the wicked one is defeated?
If you think so then why do you think Jesus had to go to the cross?

Don't get cute just answer these questions.

Now do you see the problem or not?

Hi Ed,

Seems you have no confidence in the Word of God and its power over the devil!

1 John 2:14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

1 John 2:14 (AMP) 14 I write to you, fathers, because you have come to know (recognize, be conscious of, and understand) Him Who [has existed] from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong and vigorous, and the Word of God is [always] abiding in you (in your hearts), and you have been victorious over the wicked one.

The WORD WORKED for Jesus

Matthew 4:3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

God bless

The fault in Bible complications is not with God or the Bible, but with men who refuse to believe what God says and think we have to interpret what He says in order to get the meaning. Dake Bible -Mark 11:17 note

Why are you making this an issue over my confidence or lack thereof in the WORD of God?

This isn't about whether I have confidence in the word of God or not. However to keep you from going crazy I have total and absolute confidence in the Word of God.

This is about making a verse say something that it specifically does not say. Further is contributing Christ's victory which became our victory to something other than Christ's work on the cross. Victorydub did both of these things.

If you got a problem take it up with him.

Ed

Not sure why you have difficulty believing what that passage plainly teaches. However, you have a minority viewpoint on your interpretation. Let me quote to you from an old scholarly commentary that explains this from the original Greek in dispute of your claim:
  • The [Greek] (ch. i. 6). with the [Greek] (ch. i. 6. 8; ii. 4), in the word of God, (ch. i. 10; ii. 2. 6. 7), creates and moves this vital strength and vital courage for the combat. Hence iaxvpoi tart is immediately followed by [the Greek phrase is given by the commentators], therefore, does not denote Christ, although He is the centre and star of that word. The word of God, with its eternal power, must not only be brought to them, but it must have entered into them and remain in them; then it happens : [the Greek phrase is given by the commentators]. The strength is grounded on the word of God, which abides in them (jiivei), and in virtue of this strength they have overcome the devil [the thought belongs to Huther—M.] ; the decisive battle, of course, has been fought by Jesus Christ, but His people ought to follow up His victory by continuous warfare, and gain further triumphs in their heart and sphere of life, cf. Jno. xvi. 83. – A Commentary on the Holy Scriptures By Johann Peter Lange, Philip Schaff, pp. 62, 63
As Bibleman already pointed out, you don't appear to have any confidence in God's Word to give us victory over satanic forces.

I tried to find you objections but it does no make a lot of sense to me, it more looks like disagreeing just for the sake of disagreeing. The bible gives countless verses and scriptures about the word over coming Satan..

Here's something else I need to point out in order to help Ed get delivered from his unbelief. The “word of God” referred to in this passage is the Greek word “Logos.” This word means “the full expression of God.” This word is the same Word of God mention in Hebrews 4:12 that is “quick, POWERFUL, and sharper than any two edged sword.” It is the same Logos that the Roman Centurion asked Jesus to speak in order to see His servant healed (Matt. 8:8). This Logos has power and authority that is backed by almighty God Himself (Mark 16:15-20).

What is most interesting is that Jesus says that it is the logos that Satan attempts to steal so that we do not get saved:
  • Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word [Logos] out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. (Luke 8:12)
The logos abiding in us overcomes the devil (1 John 2:14). The logos stolen from us leaves us in defeat and lost (Luke 8:12). Ed, seriously, you don't know the Bible my friend. I am saddened for you and the people you are supposed to be pastoring.

I was actually going to bring the logos thing up as well, it kept going through my mind when I typed the above reply, but I didn't. Hmm could this be conformation and God trying to get his word across? Some times I can be stubern when the Holy Spirit nudges me  I need to work on that.
