There seems to be a whole lot of passages in the BIble that teach prosperity.

Genesis 39:23
The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his [Joseph's] hand; because the Lord was with him, and that which he did, the Lord made it to prosper.

Deuteronomy 29:9
Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.

Joshua 1:7-8
Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

1 Kings 2:3
And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:

1 Kings 10:7
Howbeit I believed not the words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the half was not told me: thy wisdom and prosperity exceedeth the fame which I heard.

1 Chronicles 22:11
Now, my son, the Lord be with thee; and prosper thou, and build the house of the Lord thy God, as he hath said of thee.

1 Chronicles 22:13
Then shalt thou prosper, if thou takest heed to fulfil the statutes and judgments which the Lord charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed.

1 Chronicles 29:23
Then Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.

2 Chronicles 7:11
Thus Solomon finished the house of the Lord, and the king's house: and all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of the Lord, and in his own house, he prosperously effected.

2 Chronicles 14:7
Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the Lord our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.

2 Chronicles 20:20
And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

2 Chronicles 26:5
And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper.

2 Chronicles 31:21
And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.

2 Chronicles 32:30
This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper watercourse of Gihon, and brought it straight down to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all his works.

Ezra 5:8
Be it known unto the king, that we went into the province of Judea, to the house of the great God, which is builded with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls, and this work goeth fast on, and prospereth in their hands.

Ezra 6:14
And the elders of the Jews builded, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they builded, and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the commandment of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.

Nehemiah 1:11
O Lord, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who desire to fear thy name: and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was the king's cupbearer.

Nehemiah 2:20
Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.

Psalm 1:3
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Psalm 35:27
Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.

Psalm 118:25
Save now, I beseech thee, O Lord: O Lord, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.

Psalm 122:6-7
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.

Isaiah 48:15
I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.

Isaiah 53:10
Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

Jeremiah 33:9
And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it.

Daniel 6:28
So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

Zechariah 8:12
For the seed shall be prosperous; the vine shall give her fruit, and the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.

1 Corinthians 16:2
Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

3 John 1:2
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

You notice statements like "the Lord made it to prosper," "as God prospered him," "the God of Heaven, he will prosper us," "God made him to prosper" and other such passages? That means God is involved in bringing about a HERESY! Kind of reminds me about that passage in Matt. 12 where Jesus warned the pharisees about attributing God's work to the devil (which is usually what someone is doing when they call a teaching a "heresy"). You see Earl, God's Word is against you so tread carefully when making such statements.

How you twist scripture to justify a life style and a false teaching.
Of course God wants us to prosper, not to make us rich or so we don't have to work but to be able to help others.
The false teachers that teach prosperity live in homes that are excess. They spend money not on helping those in need but to feed their fleshly lusts.
False teachers teach about how people will prosper if they give them their money. True teachers teach God will bless when we give to those that have real need.

Let me ask you this, Ed...

Was Abraham living in excess? What about Job? But, really...just answer about Abraham...

Abraham did not pursue money he pursued God. He didn't even have a house in which to live and he accepted that as God's will for him to lived as a nomad, a pilgrim. Abraham also used what God gave him not to buy land or build a monument to himself but rather to feed, cloth and take care of those God committed in his care. The only land Abraham is said to own was the piece of land he bought to bury Sarah on. Abraham didn't take from the pockets of those that followed him he gave back to them that served him. Huge difference between Abraham and the hirelings that fleece their flock so they have more.

So no I don't see Abraham living in excess.

Ed, your problem is that you keep battling STRAWMEN!!! I would agree 100% that the reason for the prosperity of God's people is primarily to help others and have stated such. I have also spoken against the excess among some ministers. So has other Faith Preachers. However, I have also warned about throwing out the baby with the dirty bathwater which is what many like yourself often do. you get so caught up about the wrongdoings among people that you will deny the preaching of the balanced truth on these subjects as Finis Dake points out in the quotes I posted.

Okay Chris I answered your question and got accused of many things which have no substance, but that is okay and expected from those that did it.

But forgetting that nonsense let me ask you this question.
Is Copeland living in excess? Let me remind you of his multimillion dollar house, his ranch, his planes, his cars, his motorcycles. All gotten from money that came directly from the righteous in the Lord. He did not ever do as he preaches have God give him the money of the unrighteous, his all came from the offering plates that people put their money into hoping for God to bless them.

Now answer this is Copeland living in excess?

Yeah I know people that have straw for brains. Copeland lives in excess so is he now a false teacher? Last week according to you he walked on water.

I can't believe anyone one would deny a multimillion dollar house 6.1 million dollars house is excess> Or are you going to say he really needs 18,600 sq feet for him and Gloria to bump around in? Do you know how many 8 and 9 person families live in 1000 sq or less?

Think of it this way Childrens relief says they can feed a child for less than a dollar a day. If Copeland who you loved would sell his house and live in a more modest 1 million dollar house he could take the rest of the money and feed 5 million children.

Kenneth Copeland on helping the poor with our prosperity:
  • "The poor consider this a rich man’s world. Satan has dominated them with poverty and suppression of all kinds. When you realize that Satan is behind their oppression, you will see their need for the power of God in their lives. Then you won’t be afraid to obligate them to the gospel when you give material things to them. Whenever I give in this way, I always explain what the Word says and tell them about Jesus. I let them know that Jesus is my source of supply and is willing to be theirs. Show them that they, too, can become God’s channel in the earth to someone else. You see, you can feed a thief all day long, but all you will have is a thief full of food. The food won’t change him, but the Word of God will transform him on the inside. If you give to the poor in the proper way, then you can witness to them and introduce them to the power of God. I never give to the poor without telling them about Jesus. If they are to get my material goods, they will first have to listen to what I have to say about Jesus. Jesus taught about giving alms, which is giving to the poor. Evidently, Jesus was well-known for giving to the poor from the scriptural accounts of His ministry. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus taught about giving alms. He said, “Let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth” (Matthew 6:3). You can get more fun out giving to someone anonymously! It is a joy you
will never get from anything else, and the next verse says, “And thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.” HE HIMSELF shall reward you. Praise the Lord for His generous propositions!" (Copeland, Laws of Prosperity, pp. 75, 76)
And I say AMEN!!! Thank you Brother Copeland.

Oh come on! We both know he had to say that. How about he sells the house and feed 6.1 million do you think they would listen to him better on a full stomach?
Are you seriously going to defend his excessive lifestyle? Seriously. Excuse me while I chuckle.
Is there anything you won't say or defend just to try to prove me wrong? Man you are messed up. I know a person that can help you with that. His name is Jesus.

Ed,

When is your house going up on the market?

The poor could do a lot with the value of your house.
