You know Rocky,

Sorry Ed, but I think I am going to agree with Jesus!

Ed, why not give up your doubts, fears, and liberal leanings and come on into the things of God with ALL of what Jesus died for you to have. VICTORY over the devil!
Luke 10:17-20 (NKJV)
17 Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name."
18 And He said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven."
To whom was this said? To all believers or just the 70?
Besides according to you in earlier posts, Jesus didn't have any authority over Satan at this time which was before Jesus tricked Satan into crucifying him on the cross and then going to hell to wrestle and win His authority from Satan. t
That has been your claim in threads past.

Jesus said said this long before the cross which proves that even then He had authority over Satan, enough to prevent Satan from Crucifying Him. However you all have argued over and over that God lost his power over Satan through Adam and Eve's fall and had to trick Satan into crucifying an innocent man to gain it back. That is your nonsense not mine)

Now you want to say oh no Jesus had the power to give authority to the disciples and that some how pertains to us also. How quickly you must change horse mid stream to make your convoluted theology work.

Fact
Jesus always had authority over Satan.
Fact
Jesus gave the 70 disciples authority over Satan for a season.
Fact
That authority did not shift to us. Nor did it continue with the disciples.
Fact
Satan managed to have each one of the disciples (who according to you) had authority over him, killed.
Fact
Jesus was given all authority. Scripture never says, suggests or hints that we have that authority and none of us do.
None of us can order Satan to appear before us and give an accounting.
Fact
I we are in Christ Jesus we do not have to fear Satan because Jesus defeated him on the cross, not after but on the cross by being the perfect sacrifice for our sin.
Fact
If we are under the blood of Jesus, Satan can not and will not cross that line.
Fact
It is total and absolute nonsense to say we have authority over Satan. We don't
We can resist him, we can rebuke him in Jesus' name but that is as far as our power goes.
Fact
True Christians do have power to cast out demons, but not many so call Christians walk close enough to God to actually cast out demons. Most are even weaker than the Son of Sceva and the demons don't even bother to even respond to them.
Fact
Most so called "spiritual warfare" that occurs today is directly condemned in Jude 1:8-9 (NKJV)
8 Likewise also these dreamers defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak evil of dignitaries.
9 Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"

and in

2 Peter 2:10-13 (NKJV)
10 and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries,
11 whereas angels, who are greater in power and might, do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord.
12 But these, like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption,
13 and will receive the wages of unrighteousness, as those who count it pleasure to carouse in the daytime. They are spots and blemishes, carousing in their own deceptions while they feast with you,

Bibleman I do not walk in fear because fear is not of the Lord. I walk trusting in God and His promise to make all things, even the things I don't want or like, work to my good. Because I love God and I am called to His purpose.

I may not be understanding you correctly here Ed, but, are you putting us (humans) in the same class as angels? with their boundries and limitations?

God forgive me.
i do not feel that way.my late Pastor read after Dr.Kenyon.you make a great point there.i was wrong.
cpbeller wrote:then you need to also throw away Kenneth Hagin...because he also said pretty much the same thing. (in fact, Hagin has been accused of plagiarising Kenyon as their writings were so incredibly similar).

Here is Hagin's qoute:

"The trouble with us is that we've preached a 'cross' religion, and we need to preach a 'throne' religion. By that I mean that people have thought they were supposed to remain at the cross. Some have received the baptism in the Holy Spirit, have backed up to the cross, and have stayed there ever since...The cross is actually a place of defeat, whereas the Resurrection is a place of triumph. When you preach the cross, you're preaching death, and you leave people in death." (Ken Hagin, "The Believer's Authority," page 16. Second Edition 1986)

So, lets toss Hagin into the trash heap also...if you are going to do that to Kenyon, you need to do that to Hagin.

Psalm 8:4-5 (NKJV)
4 What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?
5 For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor.

Let me give you these passages in NLT perhaps they are clearer here.
Jude 1:8-11 (NLT)
8 In the same way, these people—who claim authority from their dreams—live immoral lives, defy authority, and scoff at supernatural beings.
9 But even Michael, one of the mightiest of the angels, did not dare accuse the devil of blasphemy, but simply said, “The Lord rebuke you!” (This took place when Michael was arguing with the devil about Moses’ body.)
10 But these people scoff at things they do not understand. Like unthinking animals, they do whatever their instincts tell them, and so they bring about their own destruction.
11 What sorrow awaits them! For they follow in the footsteps of Cain, who killed his brother. Like Balaam, they deceive people for money. And like Korah, they perish in their rebellion.

2 Peter 2:10-16 (NLT)
10 He is especially hard on those who follow their own twisted sexual desire, and who despise authority. These people are proud and arrogant, daring even to scoff at supernatural beings without so much as trembling.
11 But the angels, who are far greater in power and strength, do not dare to bring from the Lord a charge of blasphemy against those supernatural beings.
12 These false teachers are like unthinking animals, creatures of instinct, born to be caught and destroyed. They scoff at things they do not understand, and like animals, they will be destroyed.
13 Their destruction is their reward for the harm they have done. They love to indulge in evil pleasures in broad daylight. They are a disgrace and a stain among you. They delight in deception even as they eat with you in your fellowship meals.
14 They commit adultery with their eyes, and their desire for sin is never satisfied. They lure unstable people into sin, and they are well trained in greed. They live under God’s curse.
15 They have wandered off the right road and followed the footsteps of Balaam son of Beor, who loved to earn money by doing wrong.
16 But Balaam was stopped from his mad course when his donkey rebuked him with a human voice.

See this is a warning to man not to attempt to pretend we have authority over spiritual beings that we know nothing about.
Sure we know some things about Satan but the is really nothing when we realize the complexities of spirit realm in which he moves. Scripture has given us glimpses but no real understanding.

Before you react to my posts please read these scripture closely and mediate on what they are really saying.

Then go back and read Ephesians 6 no where to you see scripture telling us go after Satan, to rail against him. We are told to stand, resist by drawing closer to God, and if anything our words should be the Lord rebuke you.

What I'm really saying is don't waste time fighting Satan spend that time worshiping, praying and drawing closer to God it will far more productive. Nothing more nothing less.

Hi Ed,

You should read and meditate this verse for a few days... and I think all your doubt, fear and unbelief would be washed away... and then you would realize the VICTORY over the devil you have in the mighty name of Jesus!

Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils;

God bless

Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils;

Oh I know already know the VICTORY in Christ that I have over the devil. That is why I don't even let Satan bother me. I draw closer to God and let my Big Brother Jesus Christ who has all authority handle Satan.

All my doubt and unbelief have been replaced with Trust in God, that God is able and willing to make all things even those things I don't want to go through work to my good, because I love God and I am called to his purpose.
That is the peace that passes all understanding. I don't have to worry if I have faith enough. My trust in God says I do.

Ed come on now really.

So now you discredit Jesus' own words? Really? REALLY!!

Oh and I never said that. I think you may be confused or something.

Also not one of us have said that Satan must appear before us and give an accounting.

Hi Ed,

Above you said: "Oh I know already know the VICTORY in Christ that I have over the devil."

On this post you said: "The victory belongs to Jesus we can be partakers in the victory but the victory is not ours but Christ's" http://www.dakebibleboard.com/viewtopic ... 835#p73835

I take it the excellent teaching by cpbeller has now convinced you of your victory over the devil.

THANK THE LORD, you now have victory over the devil!

PS - Good work cpbeller - the Word of God finally got through to Ed.

God bless

The fault in Bible complications is not with God or the Bible, but with men who refuse to believe what God says and think we have to interpret what He says in order to get the meaning. Dake Bible -Mark 11:17 note

Then you really don't have authority over him do you. You can resist Satan, you can rebuke him in the Name of the Lord, you rest in God's protection from Satan over your life but you yourself has no authority over Satan and that has been my point all along.
