Jesus' baptism was a fulfillment of prophesy.luchnia wrote: ↑Thu Jan 10, 2019 12:42 pm Saying that water baptism is required for salvation brings a huge problem into focus when you think of why John baptized Jesus. If water remitted old sins and saved, then why baptize Jesus for the remission of old sins, since He did not have any?
Did Jesus need a pardon? Did He need to be cleaned from all unrighteousness? Ever thought that Jesus did this to signify His entrance to the priesthood or some other requirements under the OT in order that all righteousness be fulfilled before His death?
As the Levites were washed, in Num. 8:16-21, so too was Jesus washed before He assumed the roll of priest.
