Yes many people have been Christians and then backslid and committed all kinds of sins including adultery.
And how do you know they were Christians? How if Jesus was Lord of their life did they leave Christ?

I thought the only one that knew for sure the status on ones life was God. Since only he can see the heart.

Perhaps you will tell us your secret to determining who is and who isn't saved.

Also since many do this according to you then you might be tempted what keeps you from doing it? Is it your strength to resist? Is it your super faith? Or is it Jesus Christ within you? Be careful how you answer God said He will not share His glory.
Hi Ed,

OK,.. lets see here.

How do you know they are NOT Christians?

They left Christ the same way they came in - by faith and obedience to the Gospel.

You can tell who is and who is not saved by their fruit as Jesus said.

The reason I don't do this is by choice. God gave me a free will to choose the good and reject the wrong. AND by His power and the power of the WORD to build me up I stay pure.
What does it say a season of fruit or the fruit of their life. Yes people can live a lie and have positive fruit but the real test comes at the end of their life. Did their whole life produce the fruit Jesus was talking about or were they able to play act and fake the fruit most of the time. I would say the real fruit of their life was their adultery, that is when they let down the facade and let the world see them as they really were. Don't you think?

ED....

Season of fruit or life of fruit????

Where did Jesus make that distinction?

He didn't but Paul did when he said we are in a race and the goal is the promise of eternal life. Also scripture is always telling us to persevere. Then there is the Bema seat and the parable of the wedding and the one that didn't have wedding clothes.

I think the idea is made perfectly clear, Jesus isn't looking for one years crop of fruit but rather a lifetime's crop. Don't you think?

Nope, I don't think!

I think I will stick with Jesus' words on the subject.

So you think(actually you have already told us you don't think) a Christian tree will produce good fruit, then bad fruit, repent, produce good fruit, produce bad fruit, repent and produce good fruit, produce bad fruit and so on? Tell have you ever seen a tree do that?

Sure a tree may produce bad fruit but it never changes to good fruit. And a tree that produces good fruit never produces bad fruit and if it did would not the master of the tree cut it down and destroy it. Now there are many trees that produce no fruit and we are taught in the parable of the tree Jesus doesn't give up easily he tries everything to get the tree to produce. But even He says if it won't cut it down.

Yes I agree stick with Jesus words, show me where Jesus taught on and mentioned the term backsliding. Yet I will guess you use the term frequently. So you aren't sticking to Jesus' words are you?

Ed,

No matter how much you deny it....

You are just as much in line with Creflo Dollar and Joseph Prince on this hyper grace person as anyone I have ever read!

I have yet to figure out how anything I have said is hyper grace. As I understand hyper grace you can commit sin and never lose your salvation.

I say you can't sin and be saved.

How do you get from what I said to hyper grace? Explain it to me, because if you can you might convince me on Hyper grace.

Ed my friend,

You have not accepted anything any one has explained to you.

Can you tell me even one thing that you have learned by having anything explained to you on this forum?

I don't even know where to begin. People like Billy, Scott and Roger has taught me things that I have never thought of and gave me perspectives I would have never seen in a thousand years. Although I will say the ones I have learned the most from have all been run off this forum. :agrue:

The posters that are pretentious or secretly have agenda's I usually end up frustrating. And the people I never can learn from are the ones that refuse to do any critical thinking and merely parrot the party line.

But I don't see how excusing sin is remotely similar to the position that demands holiness. If you could explain that to me I would be most interested.

Let me add I almost totally ignore people that come to this forum to sell or try to get people to go to their website or blog. To me that is a form (one of the worst) of SPAM and if I were the administrator I would block such.
