I would still like to hear the rest of the story.
If people were in an open move to divide the church then it needed to be addressed openly.
If this was just his frustration I would say he needs to retire, he no longer is moving in the call but in his own strength.
I once saw an excellent pastor use an opportunity like this to do a real teaching. His church had a few women that spiritually looked down their noses at everyone else. They were always giving messages out in tongues and if no one interpreted them their response was no one was spiritually alive as they were. Usually the Pastor would give the interpretation but some times even he didn't have it. They were becoming problematic, people were beginning to doubt their spirituality and that of the Pastor.
So one day one of the women gave a message out in tongues, real loud full of "power" but no one had the interpretation. I believe because it was done in the flesh and not in the spirit. The pastor thought so too, so he stopped the service and went to the woman and said, "you gave the message and no one had the interpretation, you need to pray until you get the interpretation, we are not moving forward in service until you do." At this point the pastor laid hands on the woman and started to pray. She was shocked and didn't know which way to go. She tried praying and I don't think that got her any where. Finally she gave a sky is blue the grass is green and God loves you type of interpretation and sat down.
The pastor then went back to the platform and said. If you give a message in this church it must be interpreted and if no one else has the interpretation then the fact that God gave you the message to speak out, God evidently expects you to give the interpretation or else He would not have had you speak out without having someone willing to give the interpretation. So in the future if you give a message in tongues start to pray for the interpretation because you might be the one God wants to use.
Needless to say this stopped these women and from that day on when the gifts of the spirit were used in that church you could tell it was of God and not of flesh.

Ed this is a bit harsh to say, is it not? People make mistakes.Justaned wrote:If this was just his frustration I would say he needs to retire, he no longer is moving in the call but in his own strength.

People make mistakes, and Pastors are people therefore they will make mistakes. And perhaps that is a bit harsh but again I would like to know the whole story. As a pastor I don't think I ever experienced anger or wanting to strike out like this, the emotion I most often experience pastoring is heart break and tears.

The fault in Bible complications is not with God or the Bible, but with men who refuse to believe what God says and think we have to interpret what He says in order to get the meaning. Dake Bible -Mark 11:17 note

I would never do that, but I can't blame him for doing it. I'll just have to live vicariously through this video

Ha.
Reminds me of a Royal Rangers meeting i had a long time ago
I told the rangers a story that spoke to them of their need of
Jesus.
6 or7 wished to be saved so they were taken aside by the Pastor
and the rest were left with me.
One boy started to become noisy and unruly, so like a nuckle
head i lost my cool as he was disturbing the seekers.
That young lad grew into a 6 foot giant that could have swatted
me like a fly. Ha he took pity on me thankfuly and left me alone.
It can be very trying sometimes.

Very Funny
The ringing cell phone happens more frequently than it should. The real problem is the answering of it instead of simply silencing it. The person that answers says they are more interested in the phone call than what the Pastor is saying.
The question then has to be asked why? Why are some people more interested in the phone call than what the pastor is saying? I mean they went to all the bother of getting ready and coming to church. Evidently they had a reason for doing this. Could they be things like this:
Was it to see their friends?
Did they think they are making points with God by showing up?
Do they want to be seen as being spiritual?
If they came to truly worship God is their reason why the phone call is more important because:
The pastor is boring?
He was speaking too long and they are bored?
They don't understand the message?
They don't care about the message they just came to sing and pray?
Or they have never been trained either by parents or the Pastor to realize how important it is to be an attentive listener?
They problem is way too many in church today while they might not have a ringing cell phone to answer have their minds everywhere but there in the service.
