Ed I was joking, a lot of the times I am just kidding with you. I do want to address the thread but what I wrote does in a way address the op. And I don't mind at all you picking at me.Ed wrote:
Rocky
Classsic example of you attacking me instead of addressing the subject in debate. Now if I respond in kind you get all fussy about me picking on you. It is okay for you to say this about me but I can't say that about you.
Ed you started a thread about faith, But I have seen you make statements that are the opposite of it. ExampleEd wrote:
Also let me say your comments about things I have said in the past prove you did not understand what I was saying nor that you have thought through to conclusion what you think you believe on the subjects.
Here is some of your quotes that are the opposite of faith
Ed: Where is scripture do you find it saying that we have authority over Satan
Ed: Again no authority or victory
Ed: We have no Authority over him(Satan) at all
Ed: What I'm saying we were not given any authority over Satan
Ed: No mention of victory over Satan
Ed: Rocky which mountain have you moved
Ed: God is not into the mountain moving business
Ed: Faith is not power force that moves mountains
Ed: If God didn't want any sick in this world one sweep of His hand and all would be healed
Ed: Does that mean you can ask for anything?

What I say may be opposite what you have been taught is faith but is not opposite what God has taught as actual faith.Rocky wrote:Ed I was joking, a lot of the times I am just kidding with you. Okay I will ask again where do you see in scripture that we have authority over Satan? Faith based in a falsehood is not faith it is belief in a lie. Jesus has authority over Satan since ALL authority was given to Jesus. Now some may try to appropriate or claim that authority by using the name of Christ but that only is valid if lines up with God's purpose.
When I said we have not authority or victory. I also said aside from the authority and victory Jesus has and we can enjoy the fruits of. However that does not make us the victors of Satan nor does it give us authority over Satan. We have Jesus' victory over death, but as yet God still allows Satan to tempt, deceive us if he can and slander us. However we do have an intercessor that makes all of that as not if we remain in HIM!
Rocky again I ask you which mountain have you moved. If that passage was meant to be taken literally surely there would be mountains moving all the time. Since there isn't doesn't that make us consider the possibility that wasn't meant to be taken literally? There is a far deeper meaning in that passage than giving a demonstration of the power of faith. However that would better be discussed on another thread if you want to discuss it.
God isn't in the mountain moving business. God doesn't want us to be mountain movers either. God wants us to believe in Him. The strength of our faith is not determined by what we can and can not do. The strength of our faith is determined by how it sustains us when we walk through the valley of the shadow of doubt. The strength of our faith is not determined by whether we can prevent a child from dying, the strength of our faith is determined by whether we are able to praise and continue to serve God whether the child lives or dies.
Do you not believe God is capable of removing all sickness from this world with a sweep of His hand?
Can I ask for anything? What if I ask for your wife, your house, your car, your son. No there are limits and people that use this verse want the limits to be removed until you ask them the questions I just asked you. Then they act as if their sensibilities have been violated. And retort of course no you can not ask for my wife, my house, my car, my son. You can only ask for things God wants you to have. Sounds like a perfect answer but how do they know God doesn't want me to has say your house? Scripture answers the question very clearly. James 4:2-4 (NKJV)
2 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.
3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.
4 Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
What is that saying if you are asking for thing that the world seeks you are an enemy of God. That is not the same as saying ask anything in my name and you will get it. Now is? No it is saying you have to ask in perfect alignment with God's purpose. That requires us to know God's purpose. Is it God's purpose to make us rich or to provision us for the task set before us by God? Is it God's purpose that we never to be sick or is it for us to realize that God's strength sufficient to see us through all that we may encounter?
Faith to me is believing Matthew 6:25-33 (NLT)
25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?
26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?
27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing,
29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are.
30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?
31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’
32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.
33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
Matthew 6:25-33 (NKJV)
25 "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
28 So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;
29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'
32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.
The problem with many people's faith is what they hope for is worldly and not spiritual. What they seek is of this world and not of heaven. What they believe is what their flesh desires not God spiritual realities.

Let's make one thing clear though: I only apologize because you were offended. I have no regrets for anything that I have said. The truth is, you do ignore Scripture for your own opinions and there is no getting past that part until you acknowledge it.Justaned wrote:Both you and Rocky has apologized and I thank you both. Re: What is faith?
Could we say if God didn't want people to sin there would be no sin in the world?
Why then would any Christian say if God wanted no sickness on the the planet He'd get rid of all the sicknesses (their manifestation) Himself making it disappear?
