Re: Halloween
One of the problems is we in the US do not take spiritual things seriously.
People from 3rd world nations live in fear of such things as what we call Vampires, Werewolves and zombies. They have different names and in some cases look different but they are basically the same.
I once witnessed a Christian missionary that did magic tricks as part of his fund raising lose an entire audience made up of people originally from 3 world nations. When I asked them about it they all said the same things, the witch doctors and spiritualist of their countries controlled them with such things.
Before you write them off as merely superstitious uneducated people let me tell you my neighbor who is a Missionary Kid born and raised in the Africa witnessed first hand the "hunters" of Africa. These are spiritualist that travel through the country side demanding payment and goods from the people. They gain their power over the people by shooting an arrow straight up in the air and when the arrow falls back to earth it is through a bird. My neighbor said he watched them do this two or three times to prove their power to the people. He said he was shaken by their ability to do such things.
Look at Jannes and Jambres Pharoahs two magicians that were able to match Moses miracles one for one making their staff into snakes and turning water into blood. I'm sure a magician could do that today if given enough time to set up the trick but these guys did it in response to Moses. Sure Moses snake ate their snake but just the fact they were able to so it on the spur of the moment says they had power we aren't aware of.
I believe much is taking place in the spiritual realities that we are even remotely aware of and I believe various things were created to make us think it is all trickery and superstition.

That's what Superstition will cause, third world type of countries. Maybe Satan wants us to live in fear and in medieval superstitions, ever heard of the dark ages. No wonder the unbelievers thinks we're crazy, and I tell ya contrary to popular belief so christians can look down their nose at people, its not because we are just Christians. Christian love to play the martyr when it comes to this stuff. Most will actually respect you and will hear you out if we didn't talk like we are stuck in the dark ages. But no Oh I am so Holy because I threw away my Count Chocula cereal. Sorry more sarcasm, I may edit this. Kind of off subject but I have actually heard preacher preach against pokemon, POKEMON!? REALLY.People from 3rd world nations live in fear of such things as what we call Vampires, Werewolves and zombies. The point in in third world countries it is not just superstition. It is spiritual realities they live with. Ever see a person shoot an arrow into the air and have it fall back to earth with a bird on it when in fact there were not birds overhead? Ever see anyone throw down a stick and have it turn into a snake?

Re: Halloween
Rocky.
if you like hanging out in graveyards or things like that.its a very safe place.no one in there is going to harm a soul.
REVED you are an old school Holiness Preacher
places ministers of the Gospel have traveled in the dark continent and 3rd world they have face devil possessed witch doctors.
so the bird story is very frightening.and is probably true.its horrifying a person can be so possessed.and use it to make merchandise of human souls.
i saw the first movie ever to be made in Africa.it was creepy.Harry Carey starred in it Trader Horn.the natives were very very ....native.they were totally uncivilized.its an interesting picture.around 1930-1931.

Would this be considered an Ad hominem? Billy this is not how to discuss or debate things. Ed does this as well but not as bad. You see Billy "Ad hominem" is a debate term, Its a general category of fallacies in which a claim or argument is rejected on the basis of some irrelevant fact about the author of or the person. which is second worse way to debate next to "name Calling" .branham1965 wrote:Rocky.

Why did you feel it necessary to take a cheap shot at me?
I don't think you will find many people that view Billy's post an Ad Hominen attack on you. Perhaps a weak attempt at humor but certainly no attack on you.
I also don't think you will find many Christians that would agree that hanging out in grave yards in the dead of night as being normal.
Re: Halloween
I am sorry Ed if you felt like I was taking cheap shots at you, I have a weird sense of humor and didn't mean you any harm. And the "Ad Hominen" thing was just a joke towards Billy bro. And I don't hang around graveyards at night lol. But I do run around at night in a pair of black pajamas snatching puppies so I can sacrifice them to the peanut butter king.. I was just trying to joke about all of the prejudices that are in the church with alternative sub cultures. Maybe that's what this thread has turned in to, or maybe that is what I wanted it to turn in to. The church has become in my opinion an entity that only loves, only accepts according to outer appearance. My wife and I had been ostracized because she has tattoos and piercings as well as my self, accept I don't have tattoos because I am a total sissy. I found a fellow church of rejects, but its 50 miles away so we only get to go twice a month, do to gas. I believe a lot of the churches are evil and I see Satan in them more so then the issues we have discussed in this thread. My wife and I have been through a lot with so called Christians. Being kicked out of a church, and 4 church splits in 6 years will make anyone a little cynical. I think that's why God is going to use these subcultures and using Christians that don't look normal. Some of the meanest Christian I have ever met are in my area, they hate us and anyone that does not look like them, To me that is satanic.Justaned wrote:Rocky wrote:Would this be considered an Ad hominem?
