Re: CREFLO no need to confess sin
Good Morning, All...
I'm a very simple man. I see things as black and white, rather than as shades of gray...
When I don't understand something, I go to God. The Precious Holy Spirit gently leads me through the Scriptures, giving understanding and illumination to The Word of God. I do, occasionally, read Commentaries, seeking different perspectives, but ALL must be in accordance with The Word of God. When I was a journalist, everything had to be vetted at least three times, from different sources. Of course, the current electronic medium of "online," or the Internet, didn't exist then. Typewriters were the order of the day- computers were r-a-r-e...
As much as I revere the memory and works of Reverend Dake, I'm sure he'd point to The Word of God, and say that we should never take anything for granted, but that everything must withstand the ultimate test- whether or not it agrees with the Word of God... If we go by that yardstick, we are in accordance with God, His Word, and His Will... When testing The Word of God, we must be like the Bereans, and use all the tools at our disposal. God would have it no other way, for steel sharpens steel, and knowledge and command of The Holy Word of God, stands one in the best light...

"Confess with your mouth, that 'Jesus is Lord,' believing in your heart that God raised Him from the Dead, and you will be saved, for with the heart, man believes and is justified, and with his profession of faith, he is saved." Romans 10:9-10.

Today, after all those years I don't need to study opposing views that have shown themselves before and have been found without foundation.
Some of the new stuff looks new, but, its just window dressing over what has come before.
There is nothing new under the sun, every generation believes they are correct and free of error, only to find that others have trod the same path under a different name.
I tend to stay away from all the commentaries out there as I have found the authors beliefs scattered throughout, some more than others.
Even their translations of the bible are skewed towards their bias.
Maybe that's why I find Dake so comfortable, he enforces the word of God wherever he speaks.
I tend to stick to Paul's revelations these days, not my own.

You don't stay away from commentaries you have only narrowed down the commentaries to one, Dake. That is great, fantastic if you will but what if Dake being human is wrong on something? Doesn't scripture tell us there is wisdom in the council of many?
You might think it is you an God but in fact it is you and Dake God is only included where Dake got it right but everywhere Dake got it wrong you go down with him. Don't you think you owe it to yourself to study for yourself instead of taking even Dake's word for it? And on things you can't fully grasp don't you think it would be wiser to seek the council of many rather than just one?

Actually I don't know it all and in fact I each day I learn how much I really don't. I pray for wisdom, for knowledge and for understanding most of all I ask for a servants heart.
However I will admit it is very hard for me to understand when people close their minds to any idea but their own.
Billy I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say I was right wasn't I.
