I don't see the moment you speak of, I see what Dake said in Matthew notes. Now if you want to think God forsakes His child at the time of their most need for Him then you are entitled to that opinion. But the God I serve reached through the muck and mire of sin to pull me up. To save me. To think He would then forsake me because of sin doesn't make the slightest sense. David knew God hadn't forsaken him when he penned Psalm 22, he was expressing the deepest feeling of loneliness a person could because of what God had shown him of the crucifixion of his Messiah. Jesus fulfilled Psalm 22 and God doesn't have to fulfill anything.bibleman wrote:Nope! Dake is talking about Christ being forsaken of God!Justaned wrote:Yes I do but I don't think God forsaking Christ would be fulfillment by Jesus but would require God to do it, so I think Dake is talking of the whole passage where this came from which in great details the cross and crucifixion of Christ and the Victory that was realized by all man from it.bibleman wrote:Dake says Jesus fulfilled that passage.Justaned wrote:When David first penned those words did God forsake him? Does God forsake us when we sin or does he convict us of the sin, chasten us of the sin and cause us to desire to repent and move on. This idea that God turns His back on His children when they do wrong and need correction is absurd. No human parent does that and God being God is the perfect parent.bibleman wrote:Hi Ed,Justaned wrote:Another crock from the pit of hell. Notes For Verse 46
a [Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? ... My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?] Questions 176-177. The last in Matthew.
b [that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?] The 25th and last Old Testament prophecy fulfilled in Matthew (Mt. 27:46; Ps. 22:1). Jesus in His dying hour quoted prophecy, expressed faith in it, and fulfilled it.
Finis Jennings Dake, Dake's Annotated Reference Bible: Containing the Old and New Testaments of the Authorized or King James Version Text, (Lawrenceville, GA: Dake Bible Sales, Inc., 1997), WORDsearch CROSS e-book, Under: "Chapter 27".
Yes Jesus was forsaken of God, on the cross.
Notice the Dake note: Jesus....
quoted prophecy,
expressed faith in it,
and FULFILLED it.
How did He fulfill it? BY being forsaken of God on the cross.
Understand?
There is no purpose in God forsaking Jesus a this point in time. In an instant Jesus is going to be dead and the sacrifice complete.
Do you disagree?
Notice Dake's quote... He is talking about Christ: "Having been with the Father from all eternity without the slightest separation, it was hard to be forsaken even for a moment."c [My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?] The 10th Old Testament prophecy fulfilled in Mark (Mk. 15:34; Ps. 22:1). Next, Mk. 15:36. This was no doubt the hardest part of His sufferings. Having been with the Father from all eternity without the slightest separation, it was hard to be forsaken even for a moment. This was necessary because God could not condone sin even if it were borne by His only begotten Son. This emphasizes the awfulness of sin and that it must be put away if fellowship with God is desired (1Jn. 1:7; Heb. 12:14; Tit. 2:11-14).
Finis Jennings Dake, Dake's Annotated Reference Bible: Containing the Old and New Testaments of the Authorized or King James Version Text, (Lawrenceville, GA: Dake Bible Sales, Inc., 1997), WORDsearch CROSS e-book, Under: "Chapter 15".
Mankind or you or me have NOT been with the Father form all eternity ONLY Christ.

You cannot blame God for forsaking man when man sins. It is man's fault NOT God's.
As we have seen, eternal life is given to man when he gets into Christ and it is his as long as he remains in Christ.
He loses it when he is cut off from Christ.
Since God has said that man will lose eternal life when he sins, and since He has made abundant provision for man that he does not have to sin, then if he sins God is obligated to cut man off from eternal life in order to remain true to His Word.
God is not to blame.
He has not failed.
Christ has been all-sufficient even though man fails, sins and is finally lost.
The failure is not God's.
Rather, the failure is on the part of man who chooses to sin and incur the penalty of the broken law.
To lay the blame upon God, Christ, the Holy Spirit, or upon God's plan, power, purpose, attitude, and will is the height of ignorance.
The blame is entirely upon man who fails to allow God to keep him from sin and who chooses sin and earthly pleasures in preference to God.
God has said that sin separates and kills, and this will happen in every case or God is untrue (Isa. 59:2; Ezek. 18:4; Rom. 8:12-13).
This will automatically explain Rom. 8:35-39; Jn. 10:27-29 and all other passages which are misinterpreted by those who teach unconditional security.
Paul did not say in Rom. 8:35-39 that sin would not separate from God, but both God and Paul did say elsewhere that it would, so let's be sensible about the question (Isa. 59:2; Rom. 8:12-15; Gal. 5:19-21; 6:7-8).
No man has to sin and be lost and he cannot be saved when he sins.

God is faithful and true.
Besides Jesus testified that He (Jesus) and the Father (God) were one. How does one leave itself.
That is screwed up teaching that has lived too long. It was invented by a preacher that didn't make the connection between what Jesus spoke on the cross and the opening sentence in Psalm 22 that described the crucifixion.

But I will have to believe the Bible here:
Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Re: CREFLO no need to confess sin
The question is was this a cry of actual desertion of God from Christ or was it Jesus once more telling the People He is the Messiah by pointing them to the very prophecy of the event? I think it was the latter you feel it was the former.bibleman wrote:Ed my friend,Justaned wrote:Never In a thousand years. To me I don't see God leaving Jesus at the time Jesus needed Him the most. Further if one is to believe God deserted Jesus His only Son in the hour of His greatest crisis, how could they believe God's promise never to leave them or desert them? Makes no sense.

Oh now i see, it was the special anointing that Jesus received when He was baptised by John in the Jordan!!!
The anointing left Jesus when He was on the cross not His Father.. eemmmmmhhh
if that is true that means the Holy Spirit leaves the christian when he becomes a sinner again after his conversion????
How can the the Holy Spirit leave and not the Father?
Tell me Ed, help me understand..

In Sauls and Samson's case they weren't anointed with salvation they were anointed to accomplish the task God had before them. The Holy Spirit had not been given to man yet as Jesus promised. They were empowered by the Holy Spirit to accomplish the task, when they decided to do it their way God lifted that empowerment.
