a [Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? ... My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?] Questions 176-177. The last in Matthew.
b [that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?] The 25th and last Old Testament prophecy fulfilled in Matthew (Mt. 27:46; Ps. 22:1). Jesus in His dying hour quoted prophecy, expressed faith in it, and fulfilled it.

Yes Jesus was forsaken of God, on the cross.
Notice the Dake note: Jesus....
quoted prophecy,
expressed faith in it,
and FULFILLED it.
How did He fulfill it? BY being forsaken of God on the cross.

Re: CREFLO no need to confess sin
When David first penned those words did God forsake him? Does God forsake us when we sin or does he convict us of the sin, chasten us of the sin and cause us to desire to repent and move on. This idea that God turns His back on His children when they do wrong and need correction is absurd. No human parent does that and God being God is the perfect parent.bibleman wrote:Hi Ed,Justaned wrote:Another crock from the pit of hell. There is no purpose in God forsaking Jesus a this point in time. In an instant Jesus is going to be dead and the sacrifice complete.
Re: CREFLO no need to confess sin
David was speaking prophetically. Also about himself being identified with Christ.

Yes I do but I don't think God forsaking Christ would be fulfillment by Jesus but would require God to do it, so I think Dake is talking of the whole passage where this came from which in great details the cross and crucifixion of Christ and the Victory that was realized by all man from it.bibleman wrote:Dake says Jesus fulfilled that passage.Justaned wrote:When David first penned those words did God forsake him? Notice Dake's quote... He is talking about Christ: "Having been with the Father from all eternity without the slightest separation, it was hard to be forsaken even for a moment."c [My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?] The 10th Old Testament prophecy fulfilled in Mark (Mk. 15:34; Ps. 22:1). Next, Mk. 15:36. This was no doubt the hardest part of His sufferings. Having been with the Father from all eternity without the slightest separation, it was hard to be forsaken even for a moment. This was necessary because God could not condone sin even if it were borne by His only begotten Son. This emphasizes the awfulness of sin and that it must be put away if fellowship with God is desired (1Jn. 1:7; Heb. 12:14; Tit. 2:11-14).

Mankind or you or me have NOT been with the Father form all eternity ONLY Christ.
