titus213 wrote:Jesus and his disciples show us how to view the role of Satan in the world. He is the ruler of it, he is the god of it, and the whole world apart from those born again lie in his power. That is what Jesus, Paul and John have to say. Paul was not trying to hype this reality when he wrote that the believer has been delivered from the power and control of darkness into a totally different kingdom (Col 1). The kingdoms of this world are still under Satan (Rev 11:15)
Satan has no power he only rules what fallen man allows him to rule. He is only god if fallen man makes him a god.
Satan can only accuse the saints and tempt us. If we resist him he has to flee from us. He is the defeated foe unless we give in to his lies and elevate him in our minds.
When scripture says this world is under Satan it means that fallen man of this world has made Satan their king. But we are not of this world, we live in it but our Lord is Lord over all including Satan.
Whe Jesus said Satan was god of this world he was saying fallen man has made Satan god instead of God. Fallen man seeks after the things of Satan, Fallen man seeks to satisfy the flesh, the lust of the eyes and pride of life and will submit to any that promises him that. The problem is what Satan promises is a lie,
So what is god of this world? It is the lies of Satan. But God is still God of this world and one day every knee shall bow.
