Thanks Pastor Leon for that verse, it is the first time in 42 years that I have been enlightened by that verse as to why man desires to be as God.

why do some people call themselves 'divine' ?

I have no answer to that question, unless they equate having the divine nature of 2 Peter 1:4 (" Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust."), with being divine.
This is a definition of "divine"...

I could see myself as divine, using the definition above: because, I am of, from, and like God..(in a very limited sense)
I am also excellent and delightful !
But my self-description is merely "converted".
