Instead of using the word "forces", however, I prefer "allows", or, "enables" me to resist temptation and thereby sin.
Saw this copied above and it begs the question.
HOW can you be tempted if there is no possibility of you falling away from the Lord?
I think that is the same 'wonder' lucnia has.
When I am being tempted, I look at it this way...
I'm not being tempted to, say, get drunk or high, I am being tempted to show that I don't believe God about my rebirth.
If I give up my faith that God is true, I will get drunk or high.

Makes me think about the devil in the garden of Eden.
Was he tempting Eve to eat an apple, or was he tempting her to disbelieve God?
So is it even possible for you to Give up your faith?

How do you reconcile this with your favorite verse:

1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

dolph wrote: Wed Nov 06, 2019 4:09 pm Hilltop, this one scripture destroys your argument that a true Christian can't sin or depart from the faith:

Paul instructs Timothy, "Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons", 1Tim.4:1.
Those without faith were never reborn.
It may have seemed they were reborn, for a while, but the seed in a man always manifests itself.
In this case, the devil's seed.
If the seed of God had been in them, it would have precluded "departing".
Hilltop, You better read that one scripture again. You can't depart from something you never had. Game. set, match.
You CAN depart from being perceived as holy.
Better read it again, HT. Nothing is said about "perceived faith". Paul wrote some would depart from "THE" faith. In fact, "perceived faith" is a concept never discussed in the scriptures. It's only a Hilltopian doctrine. Game, set, match. What's next, selling indulgences?
Doesn't "departing from the faith" show the faith wasn't real?
Or at least not real enough to keep you from departing?
No. besides the above scripture, Jesus' letter to the Laodicean CHURCH is proof that CHURCH Christians can and do sin. In fact, six of the seven CHURCHES were being warned by Jesus to repent of their sins. I think Jesus knows what a Church is. "Remember from whense thou art FALLEN and REPENT and do the first works OR ELSE I will come unto thee quickly and remove thy candlestick out of his place except thou REPENT", Rev. 2:5.

This proves beyond a doubt how most serious Christians operate, that when they sin they repent and confess their sin to their High Priest Jesus as per I John 1:9.and continue their lives being led by the Holy Spirit.

Time to repent, HT, and confess your sin of propagating a false doctrine.
These scriptures alone prove the Calvinist doctrine "once saved always saved" to be wrong, not to mention the Hilltop denomination.
Did you happen to notice the penalty for their manifestation of unbelief?
If you want the model of your church to be one ping-ponging back and forth between belief and unbelief, so be it.
Serious Christina love God above all else and their neighbors as themselves...all the time.
Luke warm ones do not.

It sees that all you want to do is insinuate sin into the body of Christ.
That is impossible, as there is no sin in Christ.
You cannot justify sin.

Sin will show me I was never really "born of God".

OK - the same out all OSAS people have - if they backslide or sin then they were never saved!

BUT - On another note according to you then - you were never really born of God!

Your being "scared" and refusing to trust God with your health shows the sin of doubt and unbelief.

And according to your beliefs you were never really saved.

Or sin will show you that you were born of God and fell, thus thank God for all the warnings, exhortations, and teachings in the bible to allow us to choose not to follow sin and its master and stay on the right track.

Doesn't 1 John 3:9-10 show that?
Doesn't Romans 6:7 show that?
BUT - On another note according to you then - you were never really born of God!
I'm not, if I am bringing forth the fruit of the devil.
Your being "scared" and refusing to trust God with your health shows the sin of doubt and unbelief.
I do trust God with my eyes, and everything else He has in store for me, but God has never promised me that any surgery will be successful.
And according to your beliefs you were never really saved.
Then I guess neither was Jesus, who "feared" in the Garden.

dolph wrote: Thu Nov 07, 2019 5:39 pm Time to run up the white flag, HT, it's too embarrassing for you. Repent for propagating false doctrine. You are out numbered a billion to one. Would God give us a doctrine that only one person would believe and send every one else to Hell?
I am not alone in my obedience to God.
Jesus conquered sin, so why are you defending a dead tyrant?

How could one think they were ever born of God if they are committing sin?
God's seed cannot bring forth the fruit of the devil.
