Baptismal Regeneration

Post by macca »

Mark. 16:15-16;
And Jesus said to them, Go you into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be damned.

Jesus states very clearly in verse 16 that water baptism has nothing to do with being born-again, for if it did Jesus would have said in the second half of v 16 but he that believes not and does not get baptized shall be damned.

I would ask...

Why do you think that this verse has anything to do with regeneration? Does belief cause regenration? If so, what scriptures say so?

AFTER HE HATH KILLED
"And I say unto you My friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you Whom ye shall fear: Fear Him, which AFTER HE HATH KILLED hath power to cast into Hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear Him."
— The Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 12:4-5 King James Version)

What Scriptures prove that faith or belief causes Regeneration?

Is it possible that individuals believe as a result of being regenerated, rather than being regenerated because of their belief?

Acts. 10;
Cornelius was told by an Angel to send men to Joppa to get Peter to come here to tell you what you must do.
While Peter was wondering what the vision he just had was all about the Holy Spirit said to him, behold 3 men are here seeking you. So arise, go down and go with them, doubting nothing, for I have sent them.
The men told Peter what happened with the Angel and what he said and that Peter will tell you what you must do.
We can see that so far we have learned that angels do not carry the necessary words for the people to hear and be born-again, only man can preach the gospel for salvation. 1 Cor.21;
When Peter arrived at Cornelius's house they were all waiting to hear what Peter had to tell them, so he opened his mouth and preached the gospel and while Peter was still preaching the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word.
Eph. 2:8; Rom 10:8-13;
If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Faith comes by hearing, and hearing, and hearing the word of God.
Rom.10:17;

All those at Cornelius's house were baptized into the Holy Spirit and those of the Jews were astonished for they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Just the same as the day of pentecost where everyone heard them speak in their own language and magnify God.
So God gave the men who came with Peter the gift of interpretation of tongues so they could understand what they were saying by the Holy Spirit.
No water baptism necessary, for it does nothing to Spirit of regenerated man.

Jesus states very clearly in verse 16 that water baptism has nothing to do with being born-again,
You are seeing things that are not there.
for if it did Jesus would have said in the second half of v 16 but he that believes not and does not get baptized shall be damned.
Unbelievers won't get baptized, so need not be rementioned.

Water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of past sins provides for our participation in the Lord's death, burial, and resurrection.
His death becomes our death.
His burial becomes our burial.
And most importantly, His resurrection facilitates our ability to walk in newness of life. (Rom 6:4)
That is rebirth.

Water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ FOR the remission of past sins.
Where in the New Testament is this doctrine taught?
