Creation of the universe beyond our solar system is not what Genesis 1 is covering.
"Young Earth creationists have put a lot of effort into making science fit the concept that God created the entire universe in six days roughly 6,000 years ago.
In doing so, they believe they are obviating and therefore deflating the false claims of godless naturalism promoted by atheists. In some ways they do just that, but in other ways, they are failing because the Bible is not actually teaching a six-day creation of the entire universe.
It teaches a six-day work of divine, creative activity upon the biosphere of this planet.
The creation of the universe beyond our solar system is not really the topic which Genesis 1 is covering."

According to scripture, I can't agree..."And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also." (Gen 1:16) "And the evening and the morning were the fourth day."(Gen 1:19)bibleman wrote: ↑Fri Mar 19, 2021 3:58 pm "Young Earth creationists have put a lot of effort into making science fit the concept that God created the entire universe in six days roughly 6,000 years ago.

Where is the Hebrew word for create in the passages you cited?Hill Top wrote: ↑Fri Mar 19, 2021 10:49 pmAccording to scripture, I can't agree..."And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also." But if He "made" something it stands to reason that He did create it.

Look up the words for for made and create in the first chapter. The picture will become crystal clear at that point.

As one of the definitions for "create" in my Strong's concordance is "make", I fail to see your point.Look up the words for for made and create in the first chapter. The picture will become crystal clear at that point.
Are you implying that someone besides God created/made the heavens and the earth in six days?

God did not create the Heavens and Earth in 6 days - He created them BEFORE the 6 days, see verse 1.Hill Top wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 10:31 pmIt would mean you made the cake, not its ingredients.bibleman wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 3:25 pmWell if I told you that I "made" a cake would that mean I "created" the ingredients of milk, eggs, flower etc?Hill Top wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 2:44 pmI didn't "cite" the word create.bibleman wrote: ↑Fri Mar 19, 2021 11:07 pmWhere is the Hebrew word for create in the passages you cited?Hill Top wrote: ↑Fri Mar 19, 2021 10:49 pmAccording to scripture, I can't agree..."And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also." Re: Creation of the universe beyond our solar system is not what Genesis 1 is covering.
Verse 1 tells us he created something! Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Verse 2 we find the Earth that God had created "without form" Heb. (tōhû) ! Genesis 1:2 The earth was without form (tōhû), and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep....
Isaiah tells us God did NOT create the Earth in vain! (tōhû) Isaiah 45:18 For thus says the LORD, Who created the heavens, Who is God, Who formed the earth and made it, Who has established it, Who did not create it in vain, Who formed it to be inhabited:
So something must have happend the Earth that God created that needed to now be restored.
That is why Genesis 1:3 and on thru the chapter tells of the restoration of the Earth NOT the creation of the Earth - (that happened in verse 1)
If you will study just a little... it is very easy to understand.
God bless

God created all things from nothing.
Verse 2 starts the history of the process.
