When the reason isn't seen that is when the Satan the adversary comes to us and says, you are getting kicked in the head for no reason. God isn't in this, this is just circumstance. Or he might try to blame us for it. In any case if he can convince us God has had nothing to do with it, he will then try to get us do something stupid like Abraham did with Hagar, or blame ourselves and become useless to God or in the worst case curse God.

Many people curse God when they don't get what they want. The want a child or a spouse to get well but instead the child or spouse dies. They can't see a reason and they begin to doubt. Satan comes and tells them their faith was too weak, or they had sin in their lives. They begin to blame themselves and lose the peace of Salvation. If Satan can he will try to get them to get even with God for it, doing something stupid like denying their faith or injurying themselves or others. Lastly Satan tries to get us to doubt God, to get angry, to think that God doesn't love us because God allowed something to happen that we couldn't figure out why. We may decide God is powerless, or is somehow witheld from helping us. All lies.

God said to trust him in all things, if we are in Christ we don't have to doubt ourselves, we don't have to question why, we don't even have to understand. All God asks of us is to trust in HIm.
Hi Ed,

Above you said: "Many people curse God when they don't get what they want. The want a child or a spouse to get well but instead the child or spouse dies."

But what if the child died because the parent abused the child to death! In other words the REASON was that the parent was a child killer.

Would someone have the right to walk away and say: "Well I know there is a reason behind this" other than the fact that the parent was a child killer?
Bibleman

Don't confuse sin and the consequences of sin as being God's purpose or reason.

If someone kills someone they are guilty of murder and that has consequences. Murderers are by law defined as criminals and thus are open to criminal proceedings.

However even the murder of this child I believe has a purpose or reason beyond the fact that someone sinned and killed the child. What the reason is I have no idea so I must trust in God that it be so.
Hi Ed,

So in your way of thinking was the "reason" this child was killed more to do with the killer (the parent) or more to do with God's plan (which incorporated the reason)?

Again we must look at the story of Joseph, his brothers hated him and were trying to decide what to do with him.
If we then turn to scripture we see this testimony of God's purpose.
Genesis 50:17-20 (NKJV)
17 'Thus you shall say to Joseph: "I beg you, please forgive the trespass of your brothers and their sin; for they did evil to you." ' Now, please, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of your father." And Joseph wept when they spoke to him.
18 Then his brothers also went and fell down before his face, and they said, "Behold, we are your servants."
19 Joseph said to them, "Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God?
20 But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.

Notice especially Joseph's comments in verses 19 and 20

So if I am reading you right, then in your view God wanted to kill this child and used the parent to do it for "His reason."

So it would be appropriate to say God has a reason for killing this child?

Now you are putting words into my mouth. No God did not want to kill this child and I never suggested God did.

Hi Ed,

So I guess we would be in agreement then, that it was NOT God's will for the parent to kill the child.

Well if that is the case then the question has not been answered - what is the reason?

And as I told you before we often times don't know God's reason. God doesn't have to explain Himself to us. God has clearly stated His ways are not man's ways. Our requirement is to trust God. God's promise is he will make all things work to our good. How does this all come together? Many times we don't know but that does not change our requirement to Trust in God.

Above you said: "And as I told you before we often times don't know God's reason."

So you are saying that God had a reason for killing the child but we just don't know it. Right?

My contention is that God had no reason since he was not involved in the killing of the child at all!

Would you agree?

First we agree God was not involved in the killing, God allowed it but God did not ordain it nor comit it. As for God's reasoning to allow it I don't know the answer.
I have to stand on Genesis 50:20 But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.

Ed, that last statement of yours is the main reason most people don't want anything to do with this God of ours......and hurt christians believing God was behind all the bad things that have befallen them.

a person who hurts their own child :-| in a malignant way is of their father the devil.the devil hates God and His creation.steal, kill, destroy is the devil.

the shooting in CT.well theres a reason for everything.
the deranged killer in Colorado well theres a reason for everything.

there are THREE power sources in the Universe we inhabit.

There is the the POWER OF THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY.

There is the power of Lucifer the most powerful malignant evil alien entity and his subordinate entities.

Then there is the power of man .we his crown of creation created in the image and likeness of God.
