NO ONE on here is saying believers should sin or engage in wrongdoing.
Saying that they cannot sin is not Scriptural.
You just said it, by inferring (incorrectly) that freedom from sinning is unscriptural.
Believers in both testaments sinned. Some times severely.David had Uriah killed and took his wife.
David was still a man of the flesh.
The option to walk in the Spirit wasn't available till after Jesus was raised from the dead.
Peter denied the Lord 3 times.
Peter still walked in the flesh. He was still a Jew by religion.
He was rebuked to his face by Paul.
Not for sin, but for allowing his actions to imply the Law was still in effect.
Simon in Acts 8 sinned and Peter told him to repent and pray.
The unrepentant are not converted. He was still a man of the flesh instead of a man of the Spirit.
Believers who took the Lord's Supper unworthily got sick and even died.
That isn't a believer.
It is an unbeliever.
Paul delivered the Corinthian fornicator to Satan for the destruction of the flesh that his spirit might be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. The man later repented.
Not "his" Spirit, but the church body/Spirit.
Repentance was offered to him, but we don't know that he accepted it.

People in the Old Testament were in Covenant with God.David was the apple of Jehovah's eye.He had the Spirit of the Lord upon him.He was God's anointed king.

Reverend Dake taught that Old Testament saints were born again and filled with the Spirit.See Dake Bible.

Peter confessed Jesus as the Christ and was saved.Matthew 16.

The Bible says Simon himself BELIEVED AND WAS BAPTIZED.

He sinned and was told to repent and pray. Not Repent and be Baptized. That means he was a believer who sinned and needed mercy.

YOU ARE WRONG .PAUL WAS TALKING TO BELIEVERS.

BELIEVERS ONLY RECEIVE THE LORD'S SUPPER.

HE DID REPENT.PAUL SAID HE REPENTED AND TOLD THE CHURCH NOT TO OVERWHELM HIM WITH SORROW.READ 2 COR.2:1-10 AND READ REVEREND DAKE'S NOTES.

Until men were enabled to kill the old man and be reborn of God's seed they could not be perfect.
The Law made nobody perfect
They can be now; thanks be to God for enabling us to suffer with Christ through our water baptism into Christ and into His death, burial, and resurrection. (Rom 6:3-7)
I included verse 7 this time, so you can see the results of one's crucifixion with Christ.

{quote]Reverend Dake taught that Old Testament saints were born again and filled with the Spirit.See Dake Bible.
Nobody could be "reborn" till after Jesus' resurrection.

{quote]Peter confessed Jesus as the Christ and was saved.Matthew 16.
I see no indication of Peter being "saved" in Matt 16.
In fact, after Peter denied the Lord three times he would have lost his salvation, were it possible to predetermine such a thing. There are no liars in heaven.
But God had mercy on him, allowing him to repent of his sin before his death.
Still, even after Peter's profession before Christ of who Peter loved "more than these", (John 21), it was still almost forty days till the Holy Spirit was given to him and the rest of the disciples.
The Bible says Simon himself BELIEVED AND WAS BAPTIZED.
He sinned and was told to repent and pray. Not Repent and be Baptized. That means he was a believer who sinned and needed mercy.
Kind of like the false Christians of this time.
Failure to "turn from" sin equals unbelief.
HE DID REPENT.PAUL SAID HE REPENTED AND TOLD THE CHURCH NOT TO OVERWHELM HIM WITH SORROW.READ 2 COR.2:1-10 AND READ REVEREND DAKE'S NOTES.
You had better read 2 Cor 2 again.
It makes no mention of the sinner's response to the grace, mercy, and forgiveness available from God.

It is written..."No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other." (Matt 6:24)
Servants of sin hate God.
Don't confuse sinners with believers.
If they truly believed, they would love God so much they would cease from sin.

Phil

You need to buy yourself a DAKE STUDY BIBLE ASAP.

And yes he did repent.Every commentator from a to z says so.but you ignore AND ALWAYS HAVE BTW THAT BELIEVERS CAN SIN.
You read into the text and have taught BAPTISMAL REGENERATION on here and folks seem shook by it.

Simon himself believed and was baptized.THE HOLY SPIRIT SAID HE BELIEVED.

He sinned by wanting the power to impart the Holy Spirit .Peter told him thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.

Simon was afraid of Peters rebukes.
Peter told him Repent and pray God.

NO WHERE does the Bible say believers cannot sin.It is a fabrication of your own making Phil.

REVEREND DAKE WOULD DISAGREE WITH YOUR DOCTRINES.

HE DID TEACH HOLINESS,LIVING RIGHT AND " BEHAVING OURSELVES" .BUT NO WHERE DID THE MAN OF GOD SAY WE COULD NOT SIN OR FAIL GOD AFTER SALVATION.

You need to buy yourself a DAKE STUDY BIBLE ASAP.
Does this mean you are rescinding your kind offer to mail me one?
And yes he did repent.Every commentator from a to z says so...but you ignore AND ALWAYS HAVE
How was that repentance manifested?
Where is it stated to have happened?
BTW THAT BELIEVERS CAN SIN.
You read into the text and have taught BAPTISMAL REGENERATION on here and folks seem shook by it.
"Reading into the text" is unnecessary when scripture states it explicitly in 1 John 3:9..."Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God."
Don't you think that real believers have His seed in them?

As for baptismal regeneration, it is written..."Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.
For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;" (Titus 3:1-5)
Do you feel there is a difference between "reborn" and "regenerated"?
I don't.
Simon himself believed and was baptized.THE HOLY SPIRIT SAID HE BELIEVED.[/quote)
Belief without repentance is a waste of time.
He sinned by wanting the power to impart the Holy Spirit .Peter told him thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
More proof that those born of God can't commit sin?
And inversely...those not born of God do commit sin.
NO WHERE does the Bible say believers cannot sin.It is a fabrication of your own making Phil.
I guess we need to separate "believers" from "those reborn of God's seed".
Those with God's seed in them cannot commit sin.
REVEREND DAKE WOULD DISAGREE WITH YOUR DOCTRINES.
HE DID TEACH HOLINESS,LIVING RIGHT AND " BEHAVING OURSELVES" .BUT NO WHERE DID THE MAN OF GOD SAY WE COULD NOT SIN OR FAIL GOD AFTER SALVATION.
That is the perfect reason to go on committing more sin while claiming a hope of resurrection and eternity with the one you sin against.
The credo of the false church!

If we don't love God above all else and our neighbor as ourself, we are lost.
If we serve any other God but the Father of Jesus Christ, we are lost.
Those who commit sin are the servants of sin...not servants of God.
"No man can serve two masters..."

I'm almost convinced that you don't WANT to live without sin.
I hope I'm wrong.
