Believe the NT and no end to the exercise of the power of God

Post by bibleman »

"If men in the modern Church could see the truth of the New Testament just as it is written and would try to attain to some of the higher blessings and privileges of the New Covenant, there would be no end to the possibilities before them in the exercise of the power of God among men today" - Dake, Finis Jennings. n.d. God’s Plan for Man.

The fault in Bible complications is not with God or the Bible, but with men who refuse to believe what God says and think we have to interpret what He says in order to get the meaning. Dake Bible -Mark 11:17 note

Without repentance from sin, there are no possibilities.

Very true.

What would you say some of the possibilities of the "exercise of the power of God" would be?

I think this holds true today as it did in Dake's day. Dake pointed out modern Church so we know he was writing about believers. I agree with this. IMO too many stay in the milk and struggle to eat solid foods. I rarely see any actual examples of the power of God practiced in my circles - maybe a small few. From what I can tell in observation many are weak in faith, or are simply afraid to stand on their words.

Sadly I think your observations are correct. This may also account for the rise in sin (trans - killings - out of control debts - racial violence) in the United States today. There seems to be be very few if any who are seeking an experience with God above that of the "normal" everyday Christian life.

Do you mean besides keeping ourselves free from sin?
Healing, prophesy, interpretation of tongues, various kinds of tongues, and every other gift of the Holy Spirit.

Good answer!

1 Corinthians 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
