This being the case then we have:Earth -- Dry Land
Comparing Gen. 1:1 with Gen. 1:10, we see that "earth" and "dry land" are synonymous.
Since the earth was originally created dry land, Gen. 1:2 refers to a flood on dry land because of sin.
Dry land must have been created before the waters, or there would have been no place to hold the waters.
