Some things come from observation of the world around us.
It looks billions(?) of years old, but was made 6000 years ago so must have started out fully formed by God.

What passage of Scripture says it was made 6,000 years ago?

The scriptures detail the life spans of some of the sons of Adam with their lifespans and when they brought forth their sons.
By doing the math one can figure out the time from Adam until those whose lives correspond to other written historical times.
Adam to Abraham, for example, and Abraham to Jacob's interactions with a known dated kingdoms...like Pharaoh's.
Then in Matt. 1 we have the list of Abraham's offspring until Jesus was born.
Using average life spans, a figure far less than "billions" is arrived at.

Without debating the specific years... YES you can get an approximate age from ADAM to when Jesus was born. I agree.
But the earth as you would agree was created BEFORE Adam.

As the bible says Adam was created on the fifth day, I see no "world" before the one created on the third day.
Had there been a world earlier, it wouldn't have been the third day.
God would have had it written that the earth was created on the 5,003rd or 10,003rd day.

So what passage of Scripture would tells us that the age of the EARTH is 6,000 plus/minus old?

There is none, but it is clear from the post Adam lineages that it is so.
Do you have a scripture telling us when the earth was really created?

No, there are no Scriptures that give a date on the creation of the Earth.

The Earth could be 6000 years old or 6 billion years old and either time period would not violate Scripture.

"And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day."(Gen 1:5)
I see "day and night" as one day.
How do you see it?

I can only use all the Luke 3 scrip's showing the lineage of Jesus' family back to Adam, who was formed on the 6th day.
With the knowledge of the decreasing life-spans since the earliest men, the times can be worked out with some degree of accuracy.
Do you use some other scriptures to find your idea of the earth's age?

I believe the scriptures in Gen 1, which state that Adam was formed on the sixth day.
So, six days plus the age of Adam and his descendants is the age of the earth until Jesus.
Another 2000 some years and we are at today's date.

Problem is you do NOT know how long Adam and Eve where in the garden before they sinned.

I do know how old Adam was when he had Seth, who had Enos, who had sons until Jesus was born.
How old he was when he sinned doesn't matter in the lineage of the Christ and the age of the world.

And you do not know how much time went by from the creation of the heavens and the earth in Gen 1:1 and the restoration of the earth beginning in Gen 1:3.

I see no restoration, just creation.

So you have no idea from the Bible how old the earth is.

I don't know the exact year, but I have a very good idea of its age.

You see the fact is as you stated,... you have an idea but no Scripture.
