God is a man

Post by macca »

1 Tim. 2:5;
For there is one God and one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus.

John. 12:37-41;
But though He had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on Him.
That the saying of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke.
"Lord who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?"
Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again:
" He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts,
That they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them."
These things Isaiah said when he saw His glory and spoke of Him.

Isaiah. 6:1-13;
In the year that King Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and His train filled the temple.

Lord = Adonai, translated Lord in verse, 1, 8, and 11. Means the Lord in relation to the Earth; ruler; master.
This person is also called Jehovah in verse 3, 5, and 12.

John spoke of Isaiah seeing the Messiah, Jesus Christ on this occasion John. 12:41;
Proving that the names Adonai and Jehovah also apply to the second person of the divine trinity as they do to the Father.

It's crazy that we even need to have this discussion. If God were a man, the old atheist canard about God being our sky-daddy or some such thing would hold some weight. The true Christian concept of God is absolutely unique and is the highest conception of Divinity ever known and even possible.

Yes, the Word made flesh had a body.

No, I am not saying He has no body now.
He has a glorified body now.
Though I think He can appear in any form He wants.

Just what other form would Jesus appear in other than his resurrected body?

Who knows?
I am reminded of "the man" who wrestled with Jacob at Mahanaim, in Gen 32.
He ended up changing the name of Jacob to Israel.
I feel "that man" was the Word, (pre-Jesus), in the guise of a "man".
Couldn't Jesus do the same thing now?

No Jesus would not "guise" himself as a man now FOR He is a man now and has a earthly resurrected body.

Jesus now has a flesh and bone body!

Luke 24:39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

Yes, He has a flesh and bone body, a GLORIFIED flesh and bone body. He appeared to His disciples in a closed room.

John 20: 19,Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the DOORS WERE SHUT where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

Galatians 4: 16, Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
