Here is the context..."Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another." (1 John 3:6-11)
I can't figure out how anyone could miss the context.
Unless, like so many have, they want to include sin in the church, themselves, and in everyone they know.
So the "whosoever" must choose to abide and choose to do righteous, or maybe God forces/controls their will to do those things once they are born again? Wonder why John tells the born again sons of God (1 John 3:2) that "he that committeth sin is of the devil, if they cannot choose to commit sin?

Seems odd and a waste of time that he would bring up something untrue to the born again believers since it was impossible for them to choose do those things as you maintain. Apparently God controls man's will only in this one select area once a man is born again from above and in all other areas man is free to use his choices as he sees fit.

He "forces" them as much as He forces apple seeds to bring forth apples after their kind.

John is providing the evidence for determining who is, and who is not, born of God.

Some folks just don't get it.
God, in His grace, has provided multiple, scriptural instances, whereby we can judge who, for instance, to follow after.
Or keep away from us.

I agree, yet don't know what this has to do with the subject.

It was in response to your "Why does John tell the born again...?"
