Judgment of the heathen and John 14:6

Post by bibleman »

For the heathen who have never heard the name Jesus... of course we believe that God will judge them... based on did they follow the dictates of their conscience.

Romans 2:14 for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves,
15 who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them)
16 in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

That being said, what about John 14:6 and Acts 4:12?

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Acts 4:12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

How do we square the two thoughts?

The fault in Bible complications is not with God or the Bible, but with men who refuse to believe what God says and think we have to interpret what He says in order to get the meaning. Dake Bible -Mark 11:17 note

Not sure what you are attempting to “square”...
Rom 1:18,19 tells us that “what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has revealed it to them. Verse 20 continues...  For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

OK guys, thanks for the response....

So are we to say that the non-believers in Christ, having never heard the name of Christ...
that when they are judged by God...
even though they kept the urgings of their conscience and did what was morally right as best they knew it....

Are we to believe that God sends them to Hell?

Nope, that is not what I am saying, unless we are parsing the concept of “the name of Christ”
I believe Romans 1 makes it clear that God, reveals himself. 1:19 - What can be known about God is made plain to them (ESV)
Romans 1:21 ... although they knew God
Romans 12... God gave everyone a measure of faith

Based on this text HOW will God judge these people? Accused or Excused?

Do you really think any man of the flesh can actually follow their own consciences perfectly?
I don't.

No I don't think so. In fact I have not seen a man of the spirit who could do it either.

I looked at it but did not read it... When I add it to the 140 other things I have to read today it did not make it to the top. +wink

So Please give us a brief point you wanted us to see there... for maybe others as well who don't have a lot of time.
