Well said Haz.

Reverend Dake taught the literal bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

"Dake’s views range from orthodox to outlandish, to decidedly unorthodox. He rejected the theology of “denominationalism” and instead adopted a hyperliteral interpretation of Scripture that resulted in erroneous doctrines, such as the view that each person in the Trinity has a body, soul, and spirit, and that Jesus’ resurrected body was not physical.
.

I am not a preacher. I am a retired coal miner, nothing more, but I do understand plain simple Scriptures and I believe what I read.

Regarding Jesus' resurrected body not being physical being erroneous is shot down in Dakes teachings and also in the Word of God as he taught.

Here Jesus appeared to His disciples in a closed windowless room and they were terrified because they thought they saw a spirit. Then Jesus said this.

Luke 24: 36:43.
36, And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

37, But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.

38, And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?

39, Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones as ye see me have.

40, And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.

Jesus then asked them if they had any meat? and they gave Him some food and He did eat before them.

41, And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?

42, And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.

43, And he took it, and did eat before them.

Plus John 20:18-19; and v. 26-28.

I skimmed the article, but did not study it. Also, I see that this thread is not current, but people read old posts when they come here to find out more about the Dake Bible. The TOPIC is still current, even if the thread has been dormant. I am repeating and expanding upon what I recently wrote on the Facebook page.

The linked article is almost identical to many that I have read. The very thing that makes Dake so vulnerable to mockers is one of his greatest strengths. He was widely read. He was not just Bible literate, but he also was aware of the discussions of the academics of his times, and those in the times before him. I have yet to find anything quoted as a "heresy" that has not been accepted by one of the mainstream denominations of Christianity.

The responsible thing for authors of articles like this, would be to quote reputable people that have taught that same teaching. These teachings are, or have been, included in very expensive textbooks used at even more expensive seminaries that most of us cannot afford to attend. What Dake did was enable us to join "the great conversation" of men. In God's Plan for Man, Dake tells us how fallible is man. He teaches how to approach Bible study, and the superiority of scripture to the commentary of man.

Dake is not telling us what to believe, so much as he is giving us ACCESS to what is discussed behind closed doors. Closed doors that are meant to exclude us. The pandemic opened portals into worlds that allowed random people to gain access to places that they had never seen. Most of those portals are being slammed shut, for safety reasons as well as wrong reasons. Some access to seminary classes are being purposely left open with the intent of training more of the church to be leaders. Never before have laypeople had so much access to see how and what pastors and priests are taught in seminary.

The Dake Bible includes portions of textbooks and resource books worth tens or maybe hundreds of thousands of dollars. Leon Bible wrote a little book, almost 60 pages, that is an annotated Bibliography of some of the books that he knew Dake was quoting and alluding to in the Dake Bible. The article we are discussing tries to connect Dake to some controversial modern day teachers. Dake did not QUOTE these men; Dake quoted the church fathers and other men that the seminaries define as "acceptable resources" for a term paper. A responsible review of the Dake Bible would connect Dake to his contemporaries and mentors, not those men that came after him.

Maybe some of the controversial men listed in the article have read Dake. I wouldn't know. I am not familiar with these men. Life is short, and I choose to study others. Others that I suspect quote Dake far more than they admit. The seminaries don't list Dake as an "acceptable resource" so to quote him results in a failed paper. Pastors graduate practiced in plagiarism of Dake. We live in a world that is full of people quoting Dake, but not giving him the honor of being mentioned. Anyone who owns and reads a Dake Bible hears the repetition of Dake's original words and Dake's sources echoing around the church.

Yup, Dake tells us what the academics have said. But he doesn't tell us to take the words of those men as scripture. His foundational lessons teach us how to discern and use notes and commentary, always in subjugation to scripture.

Dake is a bit like the child in the story of the Emperor's Clothes. Attacking Dake for sharing the foolishness of academia with laypeople seems to be a fad right now. I, too, can be a bit like the child in that fairy tale. I use the Dake Bible, and it is my nature to tell the truth about that.

I happened on the Finis Dake annotated study Bible at a bookstore site I browse frequently. The synopsis was intriguing so I began to research the author, Finis Dake. In doing so on most all search engines criticisms of his work appeared before anything positive. Realizing this is a site dedicated to his teachings, and with all respect to that, I would like to ask if you all who know him better than myself would clear the air for me.
One criticism I found was from the site of someone I respect also, Hank Hanegraaff, the Bible Answer Man. Though this is not his article from years ago. https://www.equip.org/article/dakes-dangerous-doctrine/
Please let me know if those observations are correct. Or if the author of that piece is misleading. Thank you for your kind assistance and attention to my concern.
I will leave the in depth answer to your question to Bibleman. Personally, I sincerely belive any criticism of the great preacher Finis Dake is inspired by Satan and designed to discredit his work and pull people away from the truth of the Word of God.

Do you know Dake is the only preacher, that I know of anyway, that could and did give hour long sermons on any subject in the Bible, while quoting every revelant Scripture to back up what he was preaching, without once looking at a Bible? God blessed him and gave him this special gift of the Spirit where he has the entire Bible in his mind.
Do you really think ANY criticism of Dake is inspired by Satan? He was always and absolutely above any reproach? That sounds cultish. Do you realize that even Catholics don't speak of the pope himself in this way?

Good questions!

I strongly doubt that Dake would be pleased with folks believing that "any criticism" of him or his teaching or his works "is inspired by Satan, designed to discredit his work, and pull people away from the truth of the Word of God."

And, given that Ironman, himself, has opposed Dake on some previous occasions, I'm wondering if Ironman really meant this to be an absolute or if it was hyperbole?

“Not willing that ANY should perish, but that ALL come to repentance” (2 Pet. 3:9).

Many years ago when I was a Pentecostal, I was with one of the leaders of our local congregation and a couple others and we were all Dake disciples as were a lot of guys in that denomination. We were discussing Dake and how great we thought his work was and how much we admired him. Then the bible study leader blurted out, "Dake is the fourth person of the Trinity!" That stopped me dead in my tracks and I told him he was wrong for and shouldn't say things like that. Shortly after that the same guy was the first to tell me of Dake's troubles with the law which was so shocking to me at the time I at first didn't believe it.

I didn't believe Dake's troubles with the law when I first heard about them, either.

And, yes, hearing someone call a preacher the fourth person of the Trinity is shocking. I've seen footage where pictures of a very famous Pentecostal preacher are seemingly worshipped, as if they were Catholic icons.
