Re: Holidays or not?

We understand the holidays, like many things, are man's creations and not God's, yet some people are very strict in observance and to go as far as to believe them to be God ordained to the letter. I strongly disagree with the view that they are God ordained, but I respect a man's right to partake i...

Re: The science of sin

That phrase "drawn away of his own lust" is one that I do not understand. Not sure why it is described as "his own lust". How can a believer own something that is against God's character. For in Galatians 5:24 it says we have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. The devil uses our "pa...

Re: Purpose of the law

This is my understanding from reading Dake's material. (If anyone who has read Dake's material believes otherwise, please correct me) Those in the O.T. were imputed with righteousness by looking to the cross and believed as Abraham did (James 2:23) and those now look back to the cross and are imput...

Re: Purpose of the law

What about Abraham, Moses, Enoch, Daniel, Elijah, Elisha, John the Baptist, and so on? How were these men righteous, or were they doomed to eternal torments without God? What made them righteous? How is any man made righteous before Jesus died and rose again? Those before the Mosaic Law had nothing...

Re: Purpose of the law

Just wandering why if the law is not made for a righteous man (1 Tim. 1:9) why did God demand they obey the law in the O.T. if they were already born again and made righteous? The righteous saints of old walked upright and were already in obedience to the law in the sense that they walked upright. ...

Re: Purpose of the law

You make it seem that those in the O.T. were so wicked that they had no possible way of obeying God's commands because they were wicked to the core. Why did God allow them to be punished time and time again if they had no ability to obey Him. That seems unjust to me. I don't know why you think that...

Re: Purpose of the law

Galatians 3:8-9 says that the gospel was preached to Abraham and those that believe are blessed with him. So if those in the O.T. that believed the gospel had righteousness imputed to them, what was the purpose of the law for them compared to us now? For in 1 Tim 1:9 it says the law is not made for...

What do you believe determined whether those in the O.T. went to heaven or hell?
Their adherence to the Law would determine their salvation.
I'll bet they thanked God frequently for their ability to atone for their sins with the blood of goats and bulls.

Re: Purpose of the law

My local pastor/church believes that those in the O.T. were not born again/spirit filled and Dake believed they were. I'ld stick with your local pastor on this one. Men couldn't be reborn before Jesus allowed us to partake in His death, burial, and resurrection as new creatures. I thank God for thi...

Re: Where the word MATE originated.

Most of the men accepted into the army in August 1914 were sent first to Egypt, not Europe, to meet the threat Turkey posed to British interests in the Middle East and the Suez Canal. After four and a half months of training near Cairo, the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) departed by ...
