Re: First born of Egypt.
The pagan nations in the ancient world were extremely vile and degenerate. Israel's commission to execute or practically extinguish entire cultures must be looked in the historical context in which these nations existed. They were merely carrying out the law to stop the rampant leaven of self implos...

Re: what are the essentials
Matthew 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
I would consider this essential.

Re: Correct Statement?
I appreciate the discussion. Good thoughts to ponder.
For some reason the "unconditional" term seems a bit odd to me as well. I'm not going overboard but maybe because of the abuses it has become that to me.

Re: Correct Statement?
God's love is unconditional but the benefits are conditional. True statement? OK here is a different take. God starts out loving EVERYONE unconditional,,, BUT he does NOT continue to love unconditional. For example.... God hates those who do iniquity: Psalm 5:5, "The boastful shall not stand b...

Re: Correct Statement?
Love and obey God and receive all the promised blessings. Ignore God and disobey Him and receive all the promised punishments. Its all there in His Word. That is indisputable and I agree with you Ironman but does Bibleman have a valid point above? Does his love become conditional? It's interesting ...

Re: Correct Statement?
I agree with Victory. The very word translated "love" is an unconditional love. The KJV translates very appropriately as "charity" (in 1 Corinthians 13). It is a love that is given without any expectation to receive in return. Romans 5:8 tells us that God demonstrated His love f...

Re: Serving God in Vain?
You hit the nail on the head! This has spilled over to our politics and seemingly every facet of life it appears. Political correctness has made nations extremely vulnerable to terrorism because truth is afraid of. They run from the very thing that sets people free. I see this in DC and all along th...

Re: Serving God in Vain?
Ron Carpenter recently made a statement that blew my mind. He made the claim that a homosexual can be saved (continuing in their lifestyle) but they will not receive of the blessings of the kingdom - BUT they are saved. These guys leave me shaking my head at such foolishness! Yes I just listened to...
