A Different Hell for the Pre-Adamites?

Post by Spiritblade Disciple »

I ran across a fascinating article on Zion, Illinois; Alexander Dowie, William Glenn Voliva, and the Flat Earth.

To my surprise, there was a mention of the Pre-Adamites and a teaching concerning them under Dowie's and Voliva's leadership in Zion.

For those that don't know, Dake lived in Zion, for a while, and opposed the Flat Earth teaching, but agreed with at least some of the Pre-Adamite teaching.

Here's the quote from the article, concerning the Pre-Adamites:

"Voliva Vents
"Dowie had often preached that the Earth was flat, which fit with his general dislike of modern science, but under Voliva it became one of Zion’s central beliefs. The town’s schools taught that the Earth was a disc with the North Pole at the center. Voliva further believed that a huge wall of ice surrounded the outer rim of the world, claiming that “the Earth is like a steak on a circular plate surrounded by a rim of mashed potato.” This handy rim of ice potato helped keep sailors from falling off the edge and into Hell, which was a slightly larger disc right below us. And below that was a third flat disc containing a kind of super-hell for the souls of a mysterious race who supposedly inhabited the world before Adam. Yes, it was hells all the way down in Zion."

(Ignoring the Flat Earth and the differently sized discs,) My question is, did Dake believe that the Pre-Adamites went to a different Hell than the descendants of Adam are going to?

No not that I know anything about. We have no Biblical reason to think that the pre-Adamites would not have went to the same Hell that all sinners go to.

The fault in Bible complications is not with God or the Bible, but with men who refuse to believe what God says and think we have to interpret what He says in order to get the meaning. Dake Bible -Mark 11:17 note

Thanks. Much appreciated.

Regarding the differently sized discs for the alleged two hells... That gives a new take on the phrase, "Out of the frying pan and into the fire!"

BUT>>>>>

Outside of the Bible - Pember taught that the preadamites (in a nut shell) are still here in the demons that exist.

That is God destroyed their bodies and their spirit/soul was left on earth to be the demons that now exist.

Thus in Pember's thinking they would not be in Hell at all but still on the earth.

"For may not the spirits of those who trod this earth in the flesh before the ruin described in the second verse of Genesis, and who, at the time of that great destruction, were disembodied by God, and left stiil under the power, and ultimately to share the future of the leader in whose sin they acquiesced ?"
